Tappday: Lightroom
It’s been awhile since our last TAppday… Why? I’ve no idea. We’ve been busy breeding hamsters and taking care of cheese. Something along those lines. So with those concerning words let’s begin on our TAppday for this week, Lightroom.
Lightroom is a photo editing app created by Adobe, a company you may have heard of. They made this little program called Photoshop. Have I grabbed your attention yet? With the most recent update, Lightroom has become free to use for all. A Creative Cloud subscription is no longer required to use all of the power that’s stuffed into this little app.
Lightroom has presets that allow you to quickly get a specific look that you might be going for, but don’t let that simplicity fool you. There’s a number of options for you to tinker with and the new update has brought a couple of new toys for you to play with. The first is Dehaze that allows you to adjust atmospheric haze in your photos while recovering color and contrast.
The next new toy in the toolbox is the Targeted Adjustment tool. This allows you to select specific areas within your photo to adjust the Color/ B&W panel.
There are plenty of options to help you improve your photos included in Lightroom.
Now there is a couple of catches. First, only locally stored images are available for editing unless you have a Creative Cloud account. Secondly, the ‘free’ update only affects iOS for the time being with Android support currently in the works. With that being said, Lightroom by Adobe is worth the price of admission. Download it and try it out, you have nothing to lose.
